Haircap mix, they like clay substrate that stays humid during periods of drought. Can withstand direct sunlight that way.

They will be delivered on a clay substrate to keep them clumped together, hence the heigher weight at checkout. You can either re-plant them to a new clay based substrate or leave them with the one it is provided.

Please let us know the following to the best of your knowledge:

  1. Sunlight, and if any shade is cast, and for how long.
  2. Amount of rain and how much drought you have, if any, in the summer months.
  3. Where you want it to go, lawn, under a tree, on concrete, stream, eco-roof, etc.
  4. How much rain, and does it get waterlogged during the wetter months?
  5. What's the ground like underfoot? Is it soft, hard, or boggy?
  6. Knowing your Ph would be helpful but not essential.
  7. Can you provide short bursts of supplemental watering on the hot summer evenings?

You don't need to know all these things but given a rough idea, so we can understand your mossy project better.

Direct sunlight and walking on it whilst being bone dry for days in a garden will damage it. We recommend stepping stones in high foot traffic areas. When you do walk on it, it's best to have low-track shoes. Carpet-type Mosses can handle foot traffic well, especially when humidity levels are ideal. These carpet-forming mosses grow in a way where they knit together, forming a carpet that will get thicker over time with sporophytes releasing their spores. These types of growers are called Pleurocarp mosses. These specifically grow "outwards" and are much quicker to establish and grow when compared to most Acrocarps( where they grow "upwards"). It holds well together and can be easily torn to the desired shape to fit around things to be more tailored in your garden. They have wide variable colors from deep emerald green and green to a yellow-green gold hue. Feel free to get in contact for more information.

Due to the weight of the clay depending on amount and weight can be delivered on pallets.
