Sphagnum Mix (Sphagnum mix)
This mix contains more pine needles but it will be way cheaper to get! Lower quality mix of sphagnum, perfect if you won't need the sphagnum to be visible or to be used in the soil mix. You can clean it and re sell it with our bigger packs.
Live Sphagnum palustre Blunt-leaved Bog-moss common Name Blunt Bog-moss, Sphagnum quinquefarium, Sphagnum rusowii and other members of Sphagnales family
A common Bog-moss variable in colour ranges from Green, Yellow/Brown Cream to Orange, contrasting Capitulum (top of the Bog-moss) centre with various shades. They vary from pink to brick-red to dark Brown Hues (particularly in Autumn/Winter). Forms large messy mats or floppy lose hummocks. Capsules (spores) are occasional. They look a little like mini brown pitted olives.
Sphagnums love high humidity and low Ph soils and substrates. It's one of the most shade-tolerant Sphagnums but can tolerate lots of Sun, which can alter its colouration. Does well in wet woodland, ditches, stream margins and flushes. It is Ideal for open (tall sides that trap the humidity in helps avoid crispy edges) and closed terrarium projects with Ferns, Orchids, and carnivorous Plants like Venus-fly traps Pitcher plants and Sundews. please be aware that all sphagnum is competitive and could out-compete your plant and kill it, so Maintainance is important
Like all sphagnum, their water content can reach 90%; therefore, they dislike drought but can handle periods of being dry. This can be used in bulk for rewilding Bogs. This can stop efficient drainage by forming Hummocks helping to slow erosion and re-wild a once natural boggy area. whilst alive, It's excellent at absorbing Co2
Very pleased with delivery and quality just needed to remove a few pine needles leaving very healthy moss thank you
Perfect for moss poles
Good quality selection, some pine needles but the moss nice and fresh and in good condition
Lovely product, shipped quick and very healthy, all growing on amazingly in a variety of settings! Thank you :)
I grow Nepenthes & have made several purchases of moss recently from other suppliers & your lesser grade was better than the high grade I bought elsewhere. Yes, it had some pine needles but it was fresh/live with a nice mix of colours.
Slower growing pinks are good for me as they don't outcompete small seedlings as quickly & the green is perfect for mixes & for top dressing larger plants.
